How can I help support the
community?
At Il Chicco, every person
is important, and each person can find their own way of living a relationship,
in a different way for everyone, also depending on the availability of time and
energy.
Volunteering with Il Chicco is not a job, but an experience of
friendship, service, and community life. Long-stay volunteers are asked to come
and live with us for a period in order to get to know each person within our
community and to share in our everyday life. These volunteers receive room and
board, and, beginning in the first month, a small reimbursement of expenses.
Volunteers may also assist once or several times a week
for those living outside the community. For us, this collaboration represents
an important link with outside communities.
Volunteers can assist in the Focolare or in the
workshops. Volunteers accompany the Community whenever possible throughout
everyday activities, but above all at meals, field trips and on other important
occasions.
We often say that relationships with Il Chicco begin with the desire
to be of help. We always then discover that instead it is we who receive gifts
of simplicity, tenderness and affection from the relationship with the core
members of the Community, our teachers in making ourselves better humans.
